For this photo session, I had the extreme joy of capturing a sweet little man in a big exciting world. Ethan is 15 months old with a personality big enough for New York City and a smile to match! I love this age—their individual personalities really shine. Ethan loved waving to everyone and everything around us. He was in his own little world, exploring anything that caught his eye. One of the things I love most about this age is watching the interaction between parents and baby. He’s the center of their world, and I love bearing witness to that love.

The Perfect Backdrop for Fun in the Sun

I also love getting the opportunity to capture families in New York City with all of the beautiful cityscapes and locations at our fingertips. Because of Ethan’s age, we chose Central Park, giving him plenty of space to run and be himself (and he sure LOVES to run!!)

Central Park is ideal for kids’ sessions because it is a bit of a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the honking taxis, blaring sirens, and shouting vendors. Children seem to be less timid and really have fun with the shoot. At the same time, the park is still a part of the city, carrying a similar vibe that the rest of New York City exudes. I find that when I shoot in the city I shoot differently—I see things through a different lens (no pun intended). Sessions are more organic and relaxed.  With 30 people around us going about their daily lives, wearing everything from workout clothes to professional attire, the session is a bit more real. After seeing the photos, I think handsome Ethan enjoyed his session in the city as much as I did. 

Capturing sweet sessions such as this one brings me so much happiness.
