I love when families see the importance of newborn sessions, realizing that this time is so fleeting. And yes I know fitting in a photo shoot somewhere between the feedings, diaper changes, and short sleep cycles is certainly not easy, I remember how the days drag on without sleep, much less a proper meal without a baby in your arms, but before you know it those details change. Tiny fingers become little chubby hands. The soft coos become words. And the little wiggles turn into walking! Thankfully, photos take us back, helping us remember all of those sweet moments and precious details we may have missed while we were half-asleep. Parents tell me all the time that their newborn sessions were so worth it!

Happy & Handsome

I always love chatting with families when they come for their sessions and felt an immediate connection with this family. Nicholas was a preemie, born five weeks early at just five pounds. He is such a strong, handsome little guy and was able to come in for his first photo shoot at just two weeks old! He was the best baby!! So, so sweet. He slept through the whole session, only to wake up at the end for a bottle (all of that time in the spotlight made him hungry). I just wanted to put my camera down and snuggle him the whole time.

Rylee is six years old and so excited to be a big sister. She lovingly held and kissed him, so I have no doubt she’ll be a great set of hands for mommy. Dad wasn’t planning on being in the photos, but I’m pretty persuasive. 😉 I think in the end, even he was glad we were able to capture these daddy/son moments. You can see how tiny Nick is when he’s nestled in daddy’s strong hands. Those will be some amazing graduation photos for this little guy when the time comes.

Mom wanted a cream-colored session, so we kept our setups pure, simple, classic and timeless. While I love props, we kept those neutral and classic as well. There’s nothing better than allowing a baby’s sweet face and tiny details be the focus. I loved having the pleasure of capturing some sweet moments for this special family.
