Demi’s mom wanted a fun and fresh theme for her summer birthday, and there’s nothing fresher than lemons – paired perfectly with extra big servings of fun and sweetness from Demi. Not only was this session completely adorable with baby Demi as the star of the show, yellow happens to be my favorite color. I was thrilled to help design this extra cheerful theme.

Demi was such a dream to work with – squeezable like a lemon, but none of sour. This girl was all smiles! Her long, dark hair and deep brown eyes looked so beautiful against the light-blue and yellow background. This theme was perfect to highlight all of her precious features and happy personality. Her curiosity ran wild during the shoot as she explored the set. She poked her cake a little and took a few bites before crawling off to the next thing. She really loved interacting with us and showing off for the camera.

Here are a few of my favorite images of Demi’s lemon Smash and Splash. After every smash we end up in the tub for some bubbly, splashy photos – Mom and Dad get some very cute photos AND a clean baby! Sometimes baby wipes just aren’t enough for a cake smash, so just sticking them in the tub is great for everyone.

I know I’ve said this before, but I absolutely love cake smashes…and not because of the cake! One-year-olds are just so much fun to photograph. At this age, they really enjoy the theme, but they aren’t picky. If it’s interesting, colorful, and tasty, they’re happy! This is the perfect age for going all out and getting creative. And I’ve seen some pretty cute ones.
