What to Wear for Newborn Session | Teaneck Newborn Photographer
While there are no real rules for what to wear to your baby’s newborn session, I do want to offer some suggestions and a few things that fit my style for you to consider to get the timeless images you’re hoping for. Baby will be naked or wrapped simply, so you only need to focus on clothing for the rest of the family.
Keep it simple, timeless and classic!
I suggest solid clothing in neutral color tones, as I want the first thing you notice in your images is the love and connection, not the clothes you have on or distracting logos or patterns. Your clothing should reflect the simple beauty of the moment we are trying to capture while showcasing those precious newborn features.
For Mom – Wear something flattering that you feel confident in.
I know that in the time right after delivery our bodies are still readjusting. Fight the urge to wear something overly loose-fitting, and choose something that accentuates your beautiful shape. Also, be sure your nails are tidy and clean as your hands will make their way into the image when you hold that sweet bundle of joy.
For Dad – Think business casual.
The men look great in fitted white or gray casual tshirt or Henley shirt paired with khakis or nice jeans. Or, if you are willing, we can do skin-on-skin photos which are BEAUTIFUL and so special!! Instead of color-coordinating, concentrate on choosing tones and textures that complement each other. Keep the focus on your family and little ones.
For Siblings – A cute opportunity for matching or coordinating outfits.
If we’re including siblings in the photos (yes please!) make sure they are classically coordinated as well. White, cream, blush, and grey dresses are so sweet for little girls. For boys I like simple sweaters or t-shirts, try and avoid button downs and collars, or anything that will easily wrinkle. I do have a few white/cream dresses in the studio you can borrow as well.
Another Option: Some parents prefer to be in all black, or all white, which we can do and the classic attire definitely makes for sweet images.
