I must admit, when I got a call to do a bat mitzvah I froze for a minute. Bat mitzvahs are big time, I rock newborns, put babies in bowls, and run through fields with families. But I am so thrilled that I followed my gut. I knew immediately how I wanted their family portraits to turn out, and I knew I could rock out with 12 year old girls. And rock out we did. After capturing their stunning family in some (read: hundreds of) portraits, Julie’s party began. A combination of open house for the grown-ups, disco party for the kids, some speeches in the middle, and lots of great food, meant for an amazing day for me. Oh did I mention I rocked out with the DJ? We may have Vogue’d at my Bat Mitzvah – but these kids could have been backups for Lady Gaga and Pink.
