Happy Birthday Rami
Rami came to me for a first birthday session that was a bit different than my normal. Due to some health complications Rami can only be fed through a feeding tube. Though his mom wanted nothing more than to have him smash a cake, the risk of him eating the cake was too high. So we went with plan B…finger painting. Just as messy, even more colorful, and super fun. I can guarantee you’ll see more of these sessions, I loved it!
Rami is a beautiful little boy with deep soulful eyes that make him seem way wiser than his 12 months. Since he’s spent a lot of time in the hospital, he’s as attached to syringes and ‘hospital toys’ as he is his blankie (you’ll note the sterilized glucose water in his hands below). But they’re as much a part of him as his feeding tube, so I wanted to showcase them as well.
I photographed his big sister when she was 18 months old, and I loved getting her in front of my camera again. She’s spunky and adorable, and is so protective of her little brother (she even helps feed his “tubie”!)
Mom and dad, your children have quickly found a place in my heart. Thank for you for bringing them into my life and I wish them a lifetime of health and happiness. When Rami is actually able to eat that cake, I’ll be there.
One of your absolute bests! I wish there were more photos. And what an amazing, creative and sensitive idea to do the paint instead of the cake – LOVE!
