When my middle child has a birthday, we need to think out of the box big time. She doesn’t want anything that her friends have done, she’s had the gymnastics party and the at-home-circus party and every other day she changes her mind on what she wants. Hailey is super athletic and can hold her own to the boys in most sports, though she didn’t want a sports party. She’s much more trendy than she is girly, but she’ll add her own spin to anything – she calls it ‘Haileying it up.’ 

So we decided on a pajama spa party at Pretty in Pink Salon in Englewood, NJ and the girls had a blast. They got their hair done and had sparkly makeovers, decorated flip flops and had a karaoke contest. We sang a lot of Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, and Hailey declared it the best 8th birthday party ever. Ok, I’ll take it.
