Celebrating Brian | Bar Mitzvah at Factory 220
One of the best parts of being a mitzvah photographer is that I usually get to photograph families more than once. The hours spent documenting families during portrait sessions and fun celebrations provide opportunities to get to know them on a more personal level. And that’s when the magic happens, when I’m able to see and capture a child’s true personality, what makes them unique.
This was my second time with this awesome family. Their daughter Lea had her bat mitzvah celebration a few years ago (which was so much fun!), and I’ve been counting down to her brother Brian’s bar mitzvah since then! Not only was it great to celebrate with them again, I was blown away by how much these three kiddos have grown – in fact, the oldest two are hardly considered kids now! Lea has blossomed into a beautiful young lady full of wit and impeccable style, and Brian looked so handsome and grown up and read the Torah portion like a pro before his friends and family. Even their little sister has grown into a spunky soul!
About the Venue | Factory 220
Located in Passaic, New Jersey, just a few miles from Manhattan, this chic, modern-industrial venue is the perfect canvas for creating just about any vision or theme. Factory 220 offers over 30,000 square feet of customizable space to design as you please, and for Brian’s bar mitzvah party, they did a phenomenal job of catering to their audience. Adam Lefell Productions created Brian’s logo and gorgeous decor and centerpieces, the flowers were just beautiful. I love the rustic loft feel of this venue, making it one of my favorites for mitzvahs. Plus, we had a blast exploring the area outside for our portraits. It was FREEZING out, but they were troopers!
Time to Celebrate!
Brian’s family and friends celebrated him all night long, and there was some serious energy on the dance floor. There was no posing necessary with this crew as they strutted their stuff to the beats Sheer Simcha spun for us. We played Coke & Pepsi, musical chairs, and a ton of fun games and dances all night long. And Flip Perez clearly earned his name – check out his front flip over SIX people! (I was on edge until he cleared the last guy.) And check out those spray paint basketballs and footballs, so creative. Then, they fueled up with some incredible edible creations by Element Food Art! Guys, I cannot wait until Evie’s big day in a few more years! Thank you for choosing me to capture this amazing day, and for making me feel so welcome with your family and friends. xo
