A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.

There’s something to be said for old friends. Friends you meet in nursery school, on the playground, in your first bunk at sleepover camp. Friends who become lifelong friends, whose friendships are never replaced or forgotten. I’m lucky enough to still be close with friends I met at just a few years old. We were a tight knit group of 7 (6 girls and one lone boy) together from Kindergarten through high school, and while others came in and out of the mix, there’s something very comforting about old friends.

When one of those old friends called me take her family’s portraits, I went running. With six kids (what?!) and 5 hours between us when we talk its often about dinner, diapers, and diets, but we never miss each others milestones. Our session was wonderful – I loved her kids, loved watching them interact with each other, and had to hold myself back from literally biting her adorable baby girl.

As it always is with old friends, time gets away from you, and after a long session I have a lot of editing to do! But I wanted to share a few of my favorites from the day.
